Life-giving sustenance
for body and soul

For nearly 40 years, Shema Yisroel has been committed to our mission to revive Yiddishkeit and
support Jewish life in parts of the world that have been cut off from mainstream Jewry.

What We Do

Even decades after the fall of the Soviet Union, Jews continue to live in many communities in The FSU, Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. Through the establishment of schools, shuls, orphanages, and community programs, we strive to safeguard their connection to our rich heritage.

Our History

Building communities since 1987.

Shema Yisrael provides $5 to $6 million each year for our projects. Our partner agencies match this funding many times over. In the past 10 years, our combined budgets, including local partnerships, averaged $35 million annually.

The Need

Now more than ever!

In these challenging times, our budgets have seen a significant increase. Shema Yisrael has spent more than $15 million per year over the last two years, and our partner organizations have also raised substantial amounts during this period.

Our agencies also assist newly arrived Russian-speaking Jewish refugees throughout Europe and Israel.
